Community Service

What?

Students are able to report 50 hours of volunteer/community service from this school year (August-April).  The hours can be completed from Maxwell, the student's graduating school, or within their community.

Why?

Community Service can be reported on:

  • College/University applications
  • Resumes
  • Job applications
  • Scholarship application

How?

  • Complete your volunteer/community service hours in one or multiple locations.
  • Record 50 or more hours on the Maxwell Community Service Log Sheet
  • Fill in all the required information - contact information must be clear and readable
  • Turn in completed log by the due date
  • Hours will be verified

Ideas

If you need ideas on how to earn hours, you may contact your place of worship, neighbors needing odd jobs or babysitting, food banks, charity organizations, Maxwell teachers, or volunteering at your graduating school (concession stand, teachers, custodial duties, and more!)

Things to Consider

  • You cannot be paid for any of your hours
  • Cannot be family/household chores
  • Cannot use court-ordered hours
  • Double dipping is not allowed (using the same hours for two different organizations)
